vintage

Vintage clothing is a generic term for new or second hand garments originating from a previous era. The phrase is also used in connection with a retail outlet, e.g. "vintage clothing store." It can also be used as an adjective: "This dress is vintage."

The word vintage is copied from its use in wine terminology, as a more elegant-seeming euphemism for "old" clothes.

Generally speaking, clothing which was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique clothing and clothing from the 1920s to 1980s is considered vintage. Retro, short for retrospective, or "vintage style" usually refers to clothing that imitates the style of a previous era. Reproduction, or repro, clothing is a newly-made but faithful copy of an older garment. Clothing produced more recently is usually calledmodern or contemporary fashion. Opinions vary on these definitions.

Most vintage clothing has been previously worn, but a small percentage of pieces have not. These are often old warehouse stock, and more valuable than those that have been worn, especially if they have their original tags. Referred to as deadstock, they nevertheless sometimes have flaws.

recently i found a website that sells vintage clothing..i immediately fell in love with all the clothes from all over the world..here in Malaysia..vintage clothing can be found in boutiques, night markets or weekend markets or also known as 'bundle' ...these i believe came from the bundles of clothes sold..therefore it is called 'bundle'.. the past 3 years i started to buy & wear clothes from bundles..that makes me a vintage clothing user.. its not really antique clothes..because i never thought that antique clothes can be quite eye-catching in some ways..but now i changed my mind about antique clothing..i might as well hunt for vintage clothing the next time im going to visit the 'bundle' shop...

some might not want to use vintage clothing or second hand clothing, but i think we all should try it sometimes...the advantage of it is chances of you having the same piece of clothing with another person is pretty low...you can wear your clothes without worrying that you will stumble across somebody with the same outfit.. sometimes the fashion industry from another country are more advanced than whats in your local market..so let's all salute vintage clothing..

here are some pictures of vintage clothing that i find pretty & nice:
